We are forever grateful to students of the Bikram Yoga  Tacoma Center who have been very generous in supporting the Karma Yoga program we started last year. As we move forward we intend to increase our Karma Yoga activities and play a larger yet humble role in serving those most in need in our community. We welcome your participation at every turn.

Karma Yoga Raffle

One ticket is drawn each month on the first day of the month.  Raffle tickets are available anytime at the front desk for $1.00 each. Tickets are then put in the Karma Yoga Fish Bowl on the Fireplace Mantle in the lobby. You can enter as often as you wish and you do not need to be present at the drawing to win. Each month one student wins a One Month Unlimited Yoga Gift Card. The Gift Card can be used by you or you can give it to a loved one as a gift.

As of  May 1st, 2008 the Karma Yoga raffle has raised a total of $2,323 thanks to you!

Karma Yoga Book Sale


During the summer of 2006, we held a Karma Yoga Book Fair in which for one day the school was turned into a giant book store filled to the brim with books donated by students, staff and neighbors of the Bikram Yoga Center. The event was hugely successful as we raised a total of $509 in one day.  Save your books for the next book fair coming soon!

Combined with a matching grant through a program sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation, the total amount raised for the day was $1,018. Thank you!


100% of the proceeds were donated to the United Way where the money was used to provide much needed dental care and early childhhod education to the children of Pierce County who are most in need.
 

Zee Speed

Each summer we host private yoga classes for a dedicated group of young people who are participants of Zee Speed training program.  

Zee Speed is an eight-week endurance and speed training program for youths between the ages of 12 to 20. The purpose of the camp is to increase self-confidence, goal setting and performance on and off the court and/or field. The program also provides mentoring and the opportunity to interact with role models, of law enforcement, in a positive setting and environment that encourages productivity and compassionate citizenship. There is no other comparable youth program available in the greater Pierce County area.

The camp has a special focus toward at-risk young adults, low income and/or single parent households, low academic achievement as well as individuals who have had previous encounters with juvenile authorities.

The camp's founder and leader is Zachary Smalls, a Tacoma Police officer whose dedication to the community in which he serves is unwavering. Zachary serves as an inspiration to all those with whom he comes in contact. Zachary is a dedicated Yogi who has been practicing steadily at the Bikram Yoga Center in Tacoma for five years.
